The Clubhouse, at 320 W Jericho Turnpike in Huntington, which was closed on Tuesday, Sept. 10, owes the state back taxes totaling $168,481.02, said James Gazzale, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
The amount covers a two-year period from 2017 to 2019, Gazzale said.
Gazzale said the department typically "leaves all avenues open," in an effort to recoup their funds and for the business to be able to reopen, including allowing payments, etc.
Known for its moderate prices and good food, a restaurant favorite was the filet mignon, which was always featured on the eatery's sign.
Efforts to reach the owner were not successful.
